Seaman's journal, 1848.

Manuscript ship's log, subtitled "Journal of a voyage, from Boston to Calcutta in the ship Rambler commanded by James C. Ballard. Begun April 8th 1848, and terminated July 12th 1848." The log gives a daily record of weather, latitude and longitude, winds, sails, activities of the crew, and sights seen en route to Calcutta.
